The community garden is located at Keeley Park in McLeansville, NC. It features a butterfly garden, community vegetable plots, and a picnic shelter. It is a great place to visit with family and friends.
McLeansville is a small town just a short drive from Greensboro. The town is home to Boldmoon Preserve, a nature trail, and a couple of restaurants. Its country beauty makes it a popular choice for families looking for land or homes for sale in North Carolina. If you are interested in learning more about McLeansville, please contact us today.
Fishing Ponds
Located in northeast Greensboro, the park features picnic shelters, fishing ponds, a sprayground, and playgrounds. It also has bike trails, a BMX pump track, and a Community Garden.
The ponds at Hagan-Stone and Keeley Parks are part of the county’s community fishing program, a partnership between Guilford County and N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission Fisheries Division. Each month, the department stocks 1,000 catfish to be caught and kept by anglers. The program is made possible by funds collected through federal excise taxes and import duties on fishing equipment and motorboat fuels.
Largemouth bass, bream, and crappie also live in the two ponds. Fishing is permitted from 8:00 a.m. to sunset each day. All anglers 16 and older are required to have a valid North Carolina fishing license.
Sprayground
Keeley Park is a great place to have fun with the kids and enjoy some cool weather. It has multiple picnic shelters, walking trails, and historic monuments. You can also find a community garden, outdoor adult fitness park, fishing ponds, and a sprayground.
The newest addition to the park is the Sprayground, an interactive zero-depth water playground that features fixtures and fountains that spray water. It works on a similar concept to swimming pools, but it’s free, doesn’t need staff, and conserves resources by recirculating the water.
It’s a fun alternative to pools for families with young children. The facility has three areas for different age groups and can accommodate up to 140 participants at a time. It’s open May–August. A push of a button activates the sprayground. Next blog post.
